Yes you have a local farm!
No doubt you've already noticed the changing landscapes around you. Local farms and large gardens are a growing trend in Cook County, The proclamations of climate scientists and activists across the world call for every single one of us to live greener, cleaner lifestyles and Chi County (Chicago and it's surrounding Cook County area) responded by having the fastest growing urban farming community in America.
The idea blooms in Matteson, this year, 2020, when A.M. Lewis opens the garden gates and starts accepting visitors. We really want you to come on by and grow some new ideas about what you can do in your own backyard, not to mention visit our veggie stand.
Our head farmer has been planted here in Matteson for over 30 years, was certified as a Master Urban Farmer by the University of Illinois Extension Service in Matteson, and is a US Army Vet.
Our vegetables are grown "Back to Eden" style. We take pride in the fact they are non GMO, synthetic fertilizer free, and free of harsh, toxic pesticides (I do use dish soaps to fight pests).
